The Kansas City Chiefs offense has been full steam ahead this season and will look to add to its impressive totals on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
Contrary to previous years, the run game has dominated the Chiefs’ offensive strategy through the first two weeks. Tight end Travis Kelce has remained quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ primary passing target, while several wide receivers have split targets and yardage.
Since his selection in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, wide receiver Rashee Rice has been a favorite target for Mahomes. So far this season, however, the Philadelphia product has had a slow start.
The Dolphins’ subpar defense could give Rice the perfect opportunity to break out and return to his dominant form.
Why you need to sit WR Rashee Rice in Week 3 vs. Dolphins
The Chiefs’ offense, which leads the league in total yards and yards per game, has relied heavily on running back Kenneth Walker and a rotating list of wide receivers. As a result, no single wideout has carried the load. Previously, Rice would have been a top target for quarterback Patrick Mahomes, but the former SMU Mustang has been having a quiet season so far.
With wide receivers Tyquan Thornton and Xavier Worthy slowly coming into their own this year, Rice will likely struggle to match last year’s success. As someone desperately in need of a good wide receiver to start in Week 3, I will not be looking to the former second-round pick.

WR Rashee Rice vs Dolphins stat predictions in Week 3
Mahomes has been spreading the ball around more than ever this season, and his growing trust in Thornton and Worthy has given Rice fewer opportunities. Rice may still be settling in after his eventful offseason, so a bounce-back game is hopefully coming soon.
Unfortunately, I don’t think Sunday will be that game. I expect Rice to get about 40 yards on three receptions.
